It sucks to hear about Isaiah ‘Ikey’ Owens passing away today. I was lucky to see him perform quite a few times w/ Mars Volta, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Free Moral Agents, & De Facto. Plus his countless contributions on some of my favorite bands albums. I always said he played like a beast on the keys. Not a lot of people play like him out there unfortunately & that’s what made him unique. He will definitely be missed… #RIPIkey

Listening to these albums brings back awesome memories. We pushed ourselves so much over the years to be better than the last that our last album “Simplicity Sells” was the best way to sign off. Dudes of In-Opposition have gone on to jam in: #RogueState #BorderHoppinBoys #TurkishTechno #Dohrn #Stolid #ShovelandGun #HypnoRaygun #PeanutButterandJamage #DogsOfIre #BlueOhms #inopposition #FBF #bloomingtonpunx

For the first time ever on vinyl: The Jazz June's The Medicine!

A classic and certainly what has gone on to be the defining record for this band, we’ll be releasing it in conjunction with our bud Evan Weiss’ label Storm Chasers. Featuring re-worked artwork, printed dust sleeves and a gatefold jacket, this double LP was originally recorded at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA with legendary producer J. Robbins (The Promise Ring, Braid). The album was remastered specifically for vinyl by Alan Douches at West West Side (who did the original mastering on the album).

Reflecting on the recording process frontman Andrew Low recalls:

"The recording of ‘The Medicine’ was one of the best experiences we had in The Jazz June. A last minute cancellation by Bluetip meant that J. Robbins was free and Inner Ear was available. We were in total awe of J., Inner Ear and Don Zientara (Minor Threat, Rites of Spring) who happened to be hanging out in the studio. I remember getting drunk one night and telling them that the bands they were in and recordings they made were the Backstreet Boy-esque obsessions of my adolescence. J. looked to Don and said, “Do you want to shoot me or should I shoot you first and then top myself off?" J. worked tirelessly to get the album done in the 5 or 6 days that we budgeted for and he was instrumental in making the songs, sounds and structures of the album come to life. He also drank 100 cups of coffee a day and never tired of our suggestions or problems. It all paid off because it has been the most celebrated album of our career and we are delighted to finally see it on wax!”

Pre-orders are up now via Topshelf and via Storm Chasers (shipping for or around October 28 delivery).

Thanks!!

This album was the soundtrack to my teen years. Can’t wait to own this on vinyl!
